Similarities to the Whiz Kidz

Hello my fellow bloggers.  Before I begin to ramble on and on... I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the supporters of the Whiz Kidz.  Without the love and support of our friends and family, we would not be encouraged to work hard for the cause of changing children's lives.  The mission of the Whiz Kidz Adventures is for all kids to believe in themselves.  Regardless of any obstacle that may stand in their way, all kids need to know that they are special and have something wonderful to offer themselves and the world.
Now.... to the Blog!  The most interesting aspect about working on this series of books with my co-workers, is the similarities to the actual Whiz Kidz characters that we all have.  All four of the co-authors, Peter, Nikki, Bettina, and myself, have unique qualities and special talents.  It's like magic when we all get together.  We truly balance out each others strengths and weaknesses.  I honestly feel that it is nothing that we can not accomplish when we get together.  Very similar to the Whiz Kidz, we all have different methods to accomplish a task, yet, we realize that in the end.... there is strength in numbers.  We are individual, yet WE ARE ONE.  I am honored to work with a team like this.

Whiz Kidz Book Release: A Huge Success

On August 13, 2011 the authors of Whiz Kidz Devour the Dancing Blues held their first book release event. The event was held at the Nancy Guinn Memorial Library in Conyers, Georgia. The book release gave friends and family a chance to preview the first in a series of books scheduled to be released over the next few years. Guests enjoyed refreshments as they viewed galleries of scenes from the books, watched a trailer that introduced them to the authors and characters, and listened to a brief presentation about what the Whiz Kidz stand for. The authors each presented a special dedication to someone who provided them the inspiration to accomplish their goals and dreams. Guests included family, friends, and even former teachers. We want to thank all those who came out and supported us. It really meant a lot to all of us that you would take the time to join us for this special day.

Where did the Whiz Kidz come from?

Main Characters: Musa, Simone, Maria, & Robby
Hello, and welcome to the Whiz Kidz Adventure Book Series blog. My name is Peter Card. I am one of the four authors of the children's book series. The Whiz Kidz were an idea I had many years ago while I was a first grade elementary teacher at Oak Hill Elementary. This was early in our fascination with high stakes testing, and I remember first graders, their parents, and teachers concerned with whether or not our little ones were going to be able to pass the CRCT and move on to second grade. While as an educator I understand the necessity of testing, it just didn't seem right to me that testing should be a major crisis for a first grader. In response, I wanted to create something that reaffirmed to all parties involved that testing was not the measure of our children; nor were they the determinant of success. Character, hard work, and God's plan for our lives are the things I believe determine our future. These beliefs are what eventually led to the creation of the Whiz Kidz.

As is the case in many of our lives, a good idea somehow got sat to the side in a notebook on a shelf. Two years ago, I created a strategic plan for my life where I set goals in all areas of my life. One of those goals was to write a book. At that point, I shared my original ideas with my fifth grade team at Oak Hill. They responded so positively to the idea that we began to meet monthly to make what was once a dream into a reality. Being teammates as well as friends, the time passed quickly and in a matter of months, we had written five manuscripts. Now we just had to figure out a way to get published.
